OFFCHAIN TECHNOLOGY

Security Engineering & Audit Preparation

Make the security assumptions reviewable.

For engineering leads preparing releases or addressing review findings. OffchainTech scopes practical engineering checks and remediation around contracts, interfaces and operational powers.

ASSUMPTIONS TO REVIEW EVIDENCE

  1. 01Map assets and trust
  2. 02Exercise failure paths
  3. 03Remediate findings
  4. 04Prepare review records

Illustrative engineering workflow. Interfaces, environments and responsibilities are assessed for the agreed scope.

01 / SCOPE

Start with the system and its trust boundaries.

Contract-only reviews can miss surrounding permissions.

Threat and dependency review

Map assets, actors, external inputs and trust boundaries across contracts, wallets, applications and infrastructure. Identify assumptions about oracles, RPC providers, bridges and administrative services. Agree which abuse cases and dependencies are in scope before choosing tests or remediation work.

Permissions and privileged actions

Inventory roles, upgrade authority, signing permissions and administrative endpoints. Trace who can grant access, pause operations or change economic parameters. Review approval separation and session boundaries against the operating model, without assuming that a multisig alone resolves every authority risk.

Application and transaction review

Inspect transaction preparation, displayed intent, network selection and backend authorisation. Scope checks for repeated requests, invalid inputs and inconsistent transaction states. Define how failures reach the user and what information is retained for investigation without exposing secrets.

02 / SCOPE

Turn findings into testable engineering changes.

Prioritise affected behaviour and available evidence.

Security Engineering & Audit Preparation

Scope contract and integration tests, targeted analysis and review evidence around defined failure scenarios. Document tooling limitations and what remains untested. Engineering checks and audit preparation are not an independent audit, independent certification or a guarantee that vulnerabilities are absent.

Finding triage and remediation

Reproduce reported issues in an authorised environment, identify affected components and propose bounded fixes. Record severity rationale, assumptions and unresolved questions. Pair each accepted repair with regression evidence so reviewers can see which behaviour changed and why.

State and economic assumptions

Exercise agreed invariants, accounting boundaries and edge cases involving collateral, rewards or settlement where relevant. Test selected stale-data and liquidity scenarios. Technical tests do not establish financial soundness, legal compliance or commercial suitability; those decisions need separate owners.

03 / SCOPE

Prepare a review package with clear limits.

Independent reviewers need the assessed version and context.

Independent-audit coordination

Prepare agreed source revisions, build instructions, architecture notes and known issues for a separately engaged independent provider. Track clarification requests and remediation status against the reviewed version. Provider selection, audit scope, schedule and report publication require their own agreement.

Release and operational evidence

Document deployment assumptions, configuration changes, privileged roles and open findings. Agree which checks must pass before release and who accepts remaining risk. Key custody, legal obligations and commercial launch decisions remain separate from this engineering engagement.

FROM BRIEF TO HANDOVER

Define, build and verify the whole workflow.

  1. 01

    Define

Agree the system boundary, review objectives, access and exclusions. Establish the relevant source version, decision owners and how findings will be documented.

  2. 02

    Assess

Map trust assumptions and perform the scoped engineering checks. Preserve reproducible examples, evidence and limitations for reviewing findings.

  3. 03

    Remediate

Implement agreed fixes and repeat relevant tests. Track changes against findings, including issues deferred by the responsible owner and any new dependencies.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Deliver the agreed findings record, test evidence and review package. Confirm unresolved risks, operating responsibilities and any separately commissioned independent-audit work.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Useful answers.

Is this an independent security audit?

No. This service covers security engineering, preparation and remediation. An independent audit requires a separately agreed provider and scope, with independence clearly identified.

Can passing tests prove a system is secure?

No. Tests provide evidence for specified scenarios and assumptions. They cannot establish the absence of vulnerabilities or remove risks from external dependencies and operations.

Can you work from another auditor’s report?

Yes, subject to authorised access and agreed scope. We can reproduce findings, implement accepted fixes and prepare evidence for the original reviewer to assess.
